WSSPC Releases Tsunami Report
WSSPC has released WSSPC Report 2011-01: "Tsunami Hazard Mitigation and Preparedness: A Perspective from State and Territory Tsunami Programs in the High Tsunami Risk Pacific Region". The report, prepared by WSSPC members from Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington and the Pacific territories of Guam, American Samoa, and Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, documents the importance and effectiveness of the state and territorial tsunami programs to prepare local communities at high risk for future damaging tsunamis. 2011 Awards in Excellence Winners Announced
Dr. Jim Goltz of the California Emergency Management Agency has been awarded the 2011 WSSPC Leadership Award for inspirational leadership in tsunami hazard mitigation, public awareness, and emergency preparedness for the state of California.
This year's Overall Award in Excellence was awarded to the Washington Military Department, Emergency Management Division for Outreach to General Public for their Tsunami Public Education Instructor: Train the Trainer (T3) Program.
