The largest earthquake to occur in the world in 40 years.
Witnesses say U.S. vulnerable to major tsunami. Experts testify before House Committee on Science on January 26, 2005.
|
Tsunamis affect the WSSPC states of Alaska, British Columbia, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington, and the Pacific territories of Guam, American Samoa, and Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The WSSPC Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Committee works to mitigate the effects of this hazard. Their educational outreach and publications are provided on the WSSPC Members' Tsunami Publications and Web Pages.
